MIKE KEY is a
pseudonym acquired over the last few years by musician singer songwriter Michael
Pawloski, (Pav-lusky) the youngest of ten children growing up in Byron Center,
Michigan. Mike’s musical interest started with a guitar at age 13.
In his early 20’s Mike studied under retired Metropolitan Opera vocal
coach, Gordon VanRye. After being told by
his older brother, “Bands are always looking for bass players”.
Mike chose to become one and went on to
establish such local bands as: Stellar, Black Pearl and Mr. Whoo Ha. He also
wrote a theme song for a nationally syndicated snowmobile show called, “Michigan
on Snowmobiles”. Mr. Pawloski’s proudest personal achievement is performing for
18 consecutive years at the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts with Mr. Bill
Hendriksen owner of Sound Field Studios and with over 30 local musicians over
the years as a band called Homemade Jams.
Bill died unexpectedly in June of 2008 which put an end to a great run. Bill’s
wife has allowed the studio to remain operational. Just before Bill’s death,
Mike asked him for all his master tapes that had been recorded over the years.
Sound Field Studios engineer Pete Bass and Mike went in to the studio and made
this album from those tapes. Many of these songs have been performed live by
Mike over the years. Now these 10 previously unreleased songs are all on one CD
and it’s about time.

About the CD |
Mike Key’s
debut album “It’s About Time”, reflects Mike’s eclectic writing style from its
straight ahead rock opening track, “Can’t Spend Love”, to its closing ballad “So
Long”. The diversity of this indie genre album is striking. From the sharp poke
at our justice system with blues track “Buy Justice”, to a reggae tune “Love of
Ja”, derived from a goof with a one second delay, this album still has a flow.
119 was inspired by church burnings in 1996, now upon reflection is a dyslexic
911 cry for help that is as relevant as ever. The songs on this CD were chosen
by Mike for their ability to be played either acoustically or with a full band.
Not only will you enjoy this album, but don’t be surprised if you can’t
get these tunes out of your head. Great CD.
